Well, this is my first entry, so, I suppose I should start off with what's been going on up to this point.
My name is Andrew. Just "Andrew" is fine. I'm a fifteen year-old guy with more potential than any of the generations that came before me. My life, up to this point, has been somewhat pathetic. I've never had a real girl-friend and I've never really been all that good at anything I've tried. I make crappy grades in school and usually don't have anything to do. Most of that can be attributed to my laziness though.
So far in life, I've never had many real friends and most people in my own age group don't like me very much. I don't know why, but for as long as I can remember I've never been very motivated. I never really played any sports, so much as just participated in them.(If that makes any sense at all) For the longest time I was pretty well over-weight too.
About two years ago today I joined a swim team called CTA and started on my way to Olympia. That's right, my dream is to take my swimming to the Olympics. That started me down the right path, but I still have a ways to go to turn my life around.
I've always been rather bright. Most academic classes in my federally funded, public school bore me. They're way too easy. This made it pretty easy for me to just slip by on the bare minimum. However, I've decided that when I go back to school in fifteen days I'm gonna just let go and do my absolute best in everything I do. I'm not sure entirely why I've made this change. Maybe it was my summer job.
This summer I worked as a life guard at a country club. It's not the most glamorous job, but the pay is good, and the work's not too hard. I was gonna buy a new computer with my savings, but I'm thinking I'm just gonna give up on the internet, with the exception of this journal.
While I'm on the subject of this summer, tomorrow is the last swim practice for this season. Starting Friday, we're gonna have month off before we start back. Most of my teammates are probably gonna be using that time for vacations and such, but I've made myself an intensive training program for that month. I have two goals in mind for this training: (1)Run a mile in under five minutes and a quarter in under one, and (2)fifty, non-stop bench-presses, curls, push-ups, sit-ups, etc. in under two minutes. For any of you who haven't guessed it yet, or just don't know much about work outs, these two goals are for doing two things to my body: (1)Enlarging my heart and lungs, and (2)forming small, rock-hard muscles without a lot of bulk. This is all for the goal of making my qual. times for the championships next July.
After I've checked these things off my list of things to do I'll be able to finally take a new lease on life. I'm gonna turn my life around and start over new, starting by doing what I should have done the first day I met that girl. It's time I used some of that potential.
